Water

The Movie Water focuses mainly on woman who have been widow's for several years now. Living in India they have their own spiritual beliefs when it comes to marriage. Their beliefs on widow's are "Once a widow, always a widow". The movie starts off with a little girl named Chuyia. Chuyia is forced to live in the Widows home only being about 7-8 years of age, because her husband had died. She knows nothing but to be confused living there. As days go by Chuyia learns more and more everyday of different beliefs, and multiple personalities. She meets a beautiful woman named Kalyana, and things start to change from there.
This movie gets two thumbs up in my opinion. It's educational, funny, and intense in some ways. If your wanting to learn something knew about different cultural beliefs and what not, Water is the PERFECT movie to see!

victors review

When Shule ( my english teacher) told the class we are gonna watch a foreign film i thought it was gonna be stupid lame and a waste of time, but it turn out to be a really good movie. i think its one of the best movies i ever seen. every movie has a message in it and i think there are 2 messages in the movie the first one is that Women are people to, you just can't go around treating them like crap treated like you would like to be treated. the second message is don't give up on hope. in the movie a girl name Kalyani a beautiful young widow fell in love with a man and (widows aren't able to fall in love and get married) was going to get married with him, but she didn't want to cause the mans father the one who was going to marry her was one of her clients and she thought his dad wouldn't like her to be with him so she killed her self by drowning she gave up on hope and she thought he didn't want her, but if she would of waited a litter more longer till the morning then she would of seen that he did wanted to marry her. anyways this movie was really good. i say if you haven't seen this movie then your just a loser watch the movie!

Water

We watched the movie Water, in Shule's class.
So it's about a little 7 year old girl named Chuyia. She has an arranged marriage, her hsband dies, and she has to go live at a house of widows. She meets Kalyani in the house of widows. Chuyia is so young she doesn't really know what's going on, she just wants to like have fun and explore. She is a really adventurous little girl. Well the movie shows how lives of widows are in India. It isn't a life anyone would like to live, it's sad. Didi would treat them like trash. Kalyani shouldn't have drowned herself. At the end Shakuntela gives Chuyia to Narayan so she could have a better life.

I say that Shakuntela should have gone with Narayan and Chuyia in the train. She was a very good person, she cared about the other widows. Especially about Chuyia. I say she deserved to have a better life that's why i would have liked the movie better if she left on the train with Chuyia and Narayan. Kalyani should have gotten married to Narayan at the end too. This movie like shows us that we are lucky, because we don't have a bad life like some of the widows in India. We should be thankful for that. It could have been a better ending but other than that it was a good movie. I say it's worth watching it.(:

Anthony's movie review

Well i think that it was not to good of a movie first because um i don't really like the movie's plot or story .well i get the message but it should have been done much better and better actors and not just idain girl it should be about every girl because it i think that every girl should deserve to merry who she wants. now going back to the movie well i did not like it the message was good but not my style. even tho no one deserves that i think the movie should have been better why you ask?? because not only would we see the movie (which shule made us watch) a lot more other people would maybe understand that girls or women should be treated with respect all over the world people don't realize that if it wasnt for women we would be really shallow hahaha.....

well i don't recommend this movie to people how get bored fast and that don't have no closure i would give two big thumbs DOWN! well yup soo this is my blog (which shule also made me do) hahahah.

Water Movie Review

I think its crazy how in the movie WATER how the widows have to live their life day to day. For example like how they cant eat fried foods and sweets and like the normal Indian people don't like to interact or talk to the widows its almost like the homeless people at Wal Mart that have the signs and ask for money ha ha ha ha :). It almost reminds me of slaves because how they are treated so bad.

Also its crazy how, a leader for like in a 2nd or 3rd world country can make such a stand or like a change in millions of peoples lives. Like when Shakuntala took Chuyia to get blessed by Gandhi so that Chuyia could be "pure" again. Well i would recommend this movie maybe to older teens or adults because some teenagers are to immature to handle the movie and cant be quiet so everyone else can watch the movie in peace. There are parts in this movie that may not be suitable for young children. Well all together i like this movie, it was really interesting.

I would give this movie two thumbs up...

Water Movie Review

This movie Water takes place in India, in the year 1938. This movie is about girls who loose there husbands. They then get there heads shaved, cause its less attractive, then get sent to a little place called "the house of the widows" with other widows. Some of the woman there dont eat fried foods or sweets, and have many other restrictions. There is a little girl named Chayia, who gets sent to this place after her 'older' husband passes away. She meets and becomes friends with an older woman Kalyari. Throughout most of the movie, these two are together. They then run into a man named Nardayan. Kalyari begins to like the guy, but you will have to watch it to find out what happens.
I think that it was a pretty good movie. I give it a thumbs up.

WATER

I think Water is a good movie. I liked the movie because it was interesting. Something that kept me watching the movie was that I wanted to see what happens to the characters and if they were aloud to marry again. I recommend this movie to teenagers and adults because younger kids wouldn't understand it as much.

Water by lissa bug :)

This movie is about a girl, Chuyia, who is widowed at the age of 7, it takes place back in India in 1938. Chuyia has to stay in a house of widows where her life is pretty much chosen for her. In the house she meets another widow, Kalyani, who is the only one with long hair. The long hair is a symbol of beauty, and for that, Didi (the main lady of the house) sends her off to earn money from clients. Kalyani meets a Narayan and they fall in love! Narayan wants to marry her but, marrying a widow is unheard of and no one supports them. Didi even cuts all of her beautiful hair off. After running away with the love of her life, she discovers Narayan's father had been a client of hers and believes he would never want her if he found out. So, that night, she kills herself. Narayan finds out about Kalyani and his father. He goes to get Kalyani the next morning because he doesn't care. But it's too late!
With Kalyani gone there is no one to bring in money for rent so, Didi sends Chuyia with Gulabi who takes her in place of Kalyani. Shakuntala rescues Chuyia after finding out what happened. She hears of Gandhi being at the train station and goes to see him. In the end she puts Chuyia on the train with Narayan, who happened to be on the train. She wanted Chuyia to have a better life with the blessing of Gandhi.
I thought this movie was phenomenal! It's funny, entertaining, and very educational. I wouldn't say anything bad about this movie. I don't think i could. Not only was the movie amazing but the director had to go through SO much to ensure that people would be aware of the situation in India, even today, and to get that message across to everyone that has the chance to watch this unforgettable film. I would definitely recommend this movie for is amazingness :) high five!

Water

what i thought about the movie Water was that it was a great movie. It takes place in India 1938 it tells us about how widows in india lived and how they were treated. Now a widow is a person who was married but there pair dies and they cant be remarried so they become a Widow. But this movie was very interesting i learned a lot from it. It sucks how they have to shave there heads and how other people did not like being touched by them. so over all i think you can learn something new its kinda sad in most parts but the movie is not that bad. and blah blah blah

Movie review: Water

This movie is the story of a young girl in India that was widowed at a young age. Forced to live with other widows. She thinks she is going home but the sad truth is she never can return. She meets a few friends a beautiful girl named Kalyani and a nice man named Nardayan.
Now it may have a powerful meaning..... That is if you can get past the horrid acting and dialog. It had the potential to be a good movie. But they did not capitalise on this plot. The cast is less than believable. Another annoyance is the fact that u have to read sub titles for an hr.

The main character Chuyia is curious and all ways seems to get into trouble. The main plot is good, but it tends to diffed from the main plot quite a bit. Its gana be hard to fallow if you aren't informed about Indian culture.

This movie is full of romance, drama, and even a conspiracy. Its a good movie to watch with your indian grandma but i just cant stand it.

My Finnal Verdict.............. 3 Bald Widows out of 10

Water

The movie Water takes place in India. water was about a litter girl named Chuyia who's husband when she was about seven to eight years old. the night her husband dies they shave her head. the next day they take her to a house of widow's where she is suppose to live faithfully for the rest of her life. while she is there she gets to know a girl named Kalyani, she is beautiful, caring, and very religious. later in the movie they run into a guy named Narayan, he is a very smart man around the same age a Kalyani.

I really like the movie Water, because it has a good story line and you don't know what's going to happen next. They have so many problems you don't know if its going to work out. I also like it because it has tons of culture and religion put into it.

Water

When i first saw the movie Water i thought it was going to be a lame foreign movie. But as soon as it started my point of view changed. This movie was really good and i liked it. It was also sad because i thought it was wrong how they treated them. This movie takes place in India in 1938.
The main character is a seven year old girl named Chuyia, she becomes a widow at a very young age. To show that they are widows they must shave there head and dress in white. They had to marry men that they didn't even know even if they didn't want to. I give this movie a two thumbs up because it so good. It opens up your mind and you realize that this is happening around the world.

Hit By The Wave.

Water is a remarkable film. It takes place in India, 1938. It's about a eight year old little girl named Chuyia and her forced life. In India their are arranged marriages and once you become widowed, before or after the wedding, you must live life as a widow. Alone and in tuned to your purity. Chuyias arranged husband got sick and died. This meant Chuyia was now and forever a widow. Her father took her to her new home. The house of the widows where she comes along a few other widows with stories of their own. The movies just goes on spreading a message across your soul of many things. Many feelings and so much of a life lesson.

The depth of the story was truly spirit grabbing. I adore the way Deepa Metha showed the widows lifestyle in India without knocking on people from India. She still showed how beautiful the culture and spirituality of the Indians and Hindus are. It's touching and honest. She made the movie brilliantly. I completely fell in love with it.
I'd give it 6 out of 5 stars.

-Water Movie Review-

The first time i watched the movie, Water, I was amazed. The main character of this movie is a little girl named, Chuyia who is a widow at the age of 7-8 years old who has to live with other widows and has no rights and is treated different than other girls in India. I was shocked at what happened to Chuyia at the end of the movie i could just not believe what happened to her. This movie is basically about how girls are treated in India and how they have no rights.

I would recommend this movie to people who like to watch sad movies with Some happy parts. I would give this movie 2 thumbs up! yeah!! ;)
